What We Fixed This July (And Why It Matters)

Every month, I meet people who think they're facing a technology problem.

By the time I leave, they've usually discovered it was never really about the technology at all.

This July alone, I helped clients:

  • Locate years of Outlook emails they thought were missing.

  • Get computers working again that they thought were beyond repair.

  • Set up brand-new iPhones.

  • Get Apple Watches working the way they should.

  • Fix printers that had suddenly stopped working.

On the surface, these sound like ordinary tech support calls.

But behind every device is a person, a story, and a problem that matters.

Years of Emails... Gone?

Imagine setting up your new iMac, opening Outlook, and realizing years of emails seem to have disappeared.

Those emails aren't just messages.

They're family memories, tax documents, travel plans, medical information, business records, and conversations that can't simply be replaced.

This July, I helped a client locate years of Outlook emails they thought were gone.

Sometimes the hardest part isn't recovering the data.

It's knowing where to look.

Finding those emails brought peace of mind and the reassurance that everything wasn't lost after all.

"I Thought My Computer Was Dead."

It's one of the most common things I hear.

"I guess it's time to buy a new one."

Sometimes that's true.

Many times, it isn't.

A computer that won't start doesn't always need replacing. Sometimes it just needs the right diagnosis, a little patience, and someone who knows where to begin.

Watching someone realize they don't need to spend thousands of dollars on a new computer is one of my favorite parts of the job.

New Technology Should Feel Exciting

Buying a new iPhone is exciting.

Moving your entire digital life onto it?

Not so much.

Photos.

Contacts.

Passwords.

Apps.

Messages.

Settings.

You're not just transferring data.

You're transferring your memories.

It can feel overwhelming, especially if you're worried about losing something important.

A proper setup isn't just about moving everything from one phone to another.

It's about making sure everything works the way it should so you can enjoy your new iPhone with confidence from day one.

Apple Watches Should Make Life Easier

Apple Watches are designed to make life simpler.

Until they won't sync.

Or they won't unlock.

Or your notifications suddenly disappear.

Most of the time, the problem isn't the watch itself.

It's knowing where to look.

Helping a client get everything working again often comes down to a few simple adjustments and a little patience.

Printers Never Break at a Convenient Time

Printers seem to have a talent for stopping at the worst possible moment.

Right before you need to print a boarding pass.

A tax document.

Medical paperwork.

Or an important form.

When that happens, a small technology problem suddenly feels much bigger.

The good news is that many printer issues can be fixed without replacing the printer.

It's Never Really About the Technology

After helping hundreds of older adults throughout New York City, I've noticed something.

People rarely call because they love technology.

They call because they want to stay connected.

They want to see photos of their grandchildren.

They want to email friends.

They want to pay bills safely.

They want to attend a Zoom call without worrying.

They want to print an important document when they need it.

Most of all, they want to feel confident instead of frustrated.

That's what Boomernology has always been about.

Making technology simple, approachable, and a little less stressful.

Because when technology works, life gets a little easier.

And that's the real goal.

Helping people spend less time fighting with technology...

and more time enjoying the people and moments that matter most.
